Staying where I am seems safe enough, but I will eventually whither; going somewhere else, seems risky, but I will grow from the experience.

Have courage. What's the worst that can happen. Could die - but that's going to happen anyway. Most of any individual efforts is to avoid death as long as possible. That means no matter which end of the decision one makes - one is always inhibiting oneself.
